About the Artist
Lives & works in Philadelphia, PA
Alex Kuhn (USA)
Life cycles are what connect Alex with the world. He has a strong relationship with his art and the subject matter it contains. Using drawing techniques in pyrography as well as a chisel tip tool, Alex is able to burn unique, realistic representations of animals and nature permanently capturing a glimpsed moment of time into wood.
Each piece Alex creates represents meticulous research and planning to achieve a level of realistic imagery. Additionally, he spends hours reworking symbolic representations to depict the core essence of what is meant by the symbols. The goal in this pursuit is to have his work be easily digestible to people of all languages, ages, and cultures.
Alex spends his time sketching at the Philadelphia Zoo, researching at the Philadelphia Library, and creating in his Kensington studio.
